On February 11th Beijing time, as the All-Star Weekend nears, the odds for the three-point contest champion have been announced. Unexpectedly, the top pick is Lillard, who has been sidelined for the season. He holds the top spot with +310 odds, surpassing the in-form Hornets sharpshooter Knupel (+450). Bucks forward Portis ranks last (+1200). The full ranking is as follows—

1. Lillard (+310), 2. Knupel (+450), 3. Murray (+525), 4. Maxey and Mitchell (+550), 6. Powell (+700), 7. Booker (+800), 8. Portis (+1200)

When the three-point contest participants were first announced, Lillard’s inclusion surprised fans, and now, as the top favorite to win, it likely shocks many again. Although he hasn’t played a game this season, Lillard has resumed regular shooting practice, and from leaked clips, his accuracy looks quite good. Plus, having won the three-point contest twice before, this is probably the main reason he is the leading contender now.

In contrast, Booker, who has also won the three-point contest before, is not as favored, with his winning odds near the bottom. The reason is simple: Booker’s outside shooting this season has been poor. So far this season, his three-point shooting percentage is only 31.1%, which is a career low and the lowest among participants this season (excluding Lillard, who hasn’t played).

The three-point shooting percentages so far this season for the other six players are as follows:
Portis 45.6%
Murray 42.8%
Knupel 42.8%
Powell 39.6%
Maxey 37.9%
Mitchell 37.7%
Among them, Portis is the most accurate shooter but ironically the least favored contestant. Which player do you think will win this season’s three-point contest? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
