Curry’s wish from four years ago has completely fallen apart! He hoped three young players would win major awards, but now they have all left the team.

On February 6th Beijing time, the Warriors officially announced the trade of Kuminga and Hield for Porzingis. Curry’s wish expressed in a 2022 GQ interview was uncovered by the American media. In that interview, Curry hoped that the three young players on the team at the time would win major awards within the next five years, but their development has fallen far short of expectations and they have all since left the Warriors.

In that GQ article, the original text stated: “Regarding Curry personally,he envisioned the situation five years ahead: Poole becoming an All-Star, Kuminga making the All-Defensive Team, and Wiseman emerging as an MVP candidate. He said that by then, he and Green would feel fulfilled.”

Now, all three young players have left the Warriors, and their progress is far from what Curry had hoped for—

Jordan Poole has yet to be selected as an All-Star; in July 2023, he was traded from the Warriors to the Wizards. By July 2025, the Wizards traded him to the Pelicans. This season, Poole averages 14.5 points and 3.1 assists per game, shooting 37% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range, with his field goal percentage hitting a six-year low. In the last six games, Poole hasn’t been in the Pelicans’ rotation. His list of honors still only includes the 2022 championship with the Warriors.

Kuminga also never made the All-Defensive Team. He was recently traded from the Warriors to the Hawks. Reflecting on Kuminga’s time with the Warriors, coach Kerr commented that their fit was “very poor.” This season, Kuminga has also spent significant time as DNP; in 20 games played, he averages 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Like Poole, Kuminga’s only accolade is the 2022 championship with the Warriors.

Among the three young players, Wiseman’s situation is the worst. From Curry’s original expectations, it’s clear he had the highest hopes for Wiseman, wishing him to become an MVP candidate. Although Wiseman is only 24 years old now, he hasn’t come close to being an MVP candidate and has even lost his spot in the NBA, currently in an “unemployed” status.

In February 2023, he was traded from the Warriors to the Pistons; in July 2024, he signed with the Pacers. In February 2025, he was traded from the Pacers to the Raptors and was waived two days later. In July 2025, the Pacers signed Wiseman again but cut him in October. On December 21, 2025, the Pacers signed him to a 10-day contract, but after six days, he was waived again and remains unsigned by any NBA team. This season, Wiseman has played 4 games, averaging 3.3 points and 2 rebounds per game.
