The Universe Cavaliers are coming! Donovan Mitchell and James Harden plan to recruit LeBron James this summer to build a star-studded lineup aiming for the championship.

On February 5th Beijing time, sources from Cavaliers Nation revealed that All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell and James Harden are planning to bring LeBron James to the Cavaliers in the upcoming offseason.

This offseason marks the first time LeBron will be a fully unrestricted free agent since 2018. Sources say that if this future Hall of Famer chooses to continue his NBA career, the Cavaliers will make every effort to pursue him in free agency.

Previously, the Cavaliers acquired Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers in a blockbuster trade involving Garland.Insiders reveal that Harden and Mitchell share a close personal relationship with LeBron; if LeBron opts not to retire, he is also inclined to leave the Los Angeles Lakers during the offseason to join his hometown team, the Cavaliers.

Sources indicate thatHarden and Mitchell firmly believe the Cavaliers have the capability to contend for the championship this season. Even if Cleveland wins the 2026 title, both will still invite LeBron to join them during the offseason. After all, no superstar is satisfied with holding just one championship trophy.

Harden’s salary this season is $39.4 million, and his 2026-27 contract worth $42.3 million includes $13.3 million guaranteed. Sources say the Cavaliers are expected to negotiate a new contract with the 2018 regular season MVP this offseason.

Meanwhile, Mitchell’s salary this season is $46.4 million, rising to $50.1 million next season, with a player option valued at $53.8 million for the 2027-28 season.

Under Mitchell’s leadership, the Cavaliers have never advanced past the second round of the playoffs. This star, who began his career with the Utah Jazz, has yet to reach the conference finals.

The Cavaliers last reached the NBA Finals in 2018, when they lost in four games to the Golden State Warriors. That offseason, LeBron left Cleveland for the Lakers and led them to the 2020 championship by defeating the Miami Heat in the NBA Bubble at Disney World. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer helped revive the Lakers franchise.

However, on January 21st, ESPN reporter Baxter Holmes published a detailed report exposing tension between LeBron and Lakers owner Jeanie Buss. Sources say that if LeBron continues his career, most in the league believe he will not re-sign with the Lakers during the offseason.

Therefore,if LeBron chooses not to retire this offseason, it is highly likely he will sign with the Cavaliersand join forces with Mitchell, Harden, and Evan Mobley, a result that would hardly come as a surprise.
