Announced! A three-team trade has officially been completed! The Timberwolves' next target is Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The official announcement confirms the three-team trade details as follows:

The Pistons receive Huerter, Saric, and the 2026 first-round pick swap rights (from the Timberwolves);

The Bulls acquire Ivey and Conley;

The Timberwolves receive cash considerations.

Conley, now 38, has ultimately been released. Over three and a half seasons with the Timberwolves, he contributed to two Western Conference Finals appearances. This season, he has averaged 18.5 minutes per game, putting up just 4.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, with a shooting accuracy of 32.2%.

Another player worth noting in this trade is Ivey, the 2022 first-round fifth overall pick, a 1.91-meter versatile guard. Originally a key development prospect for the Pistons, he averaged 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in his rookie season, but unfortunately became a casualty in the team's rebuilding process.

Ivey, who struggled to find playing time with the Pistons, bringing his talent to the Bulls is definitely a positive move and could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Currently, the Pistons hold a strong position in the East with a 37-12 record, leading the conference, while the Bulls stand at 24-27, ranking tenth, just one game ahead of the 11th-place Hornets.

To get to the main point, yes, now comes the real deal.

The Timberwolves made this trade mainly to significantly reduce luxury tax expenses and free up roster spots in order to pursue a star player—undoubtedly Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Insider Siegel stated that Giannis prefers joining the Timberwolves and teaming up with Edwards, with a strong possibility of arriving in Minnesota before this year's trade deadline on February 6.

With Giannis on the Timberwolves, the already fiercely competitive and intense Western Conference will become even more brutal, potentially reshaping the current NBA championship landscape.

Edwards and Giannis, two explosive athletes with immense talent, and with Edwards having already developed a reliable shooting touch—this season he is shooting 40.7% from beyond the arc, averaging 3.4 three-pointers per game—will ensure the Timberwolves’ offense won't be stifled even when both stars are on the court together.

So far, the Timberwolves stand at 31-20, sixth in the West. Only by going all-in to strengthen their core can they break through and reach the summit to enjoy the view.
