Giannis trade update! Warriors revise their offer while Lakers wait for this summer; Giannis shows no interest in the Trail Blazers

On February 4th Beijing time, reporter Stein provided the newest updates on the Giannis trade.

The Golden State Warriors have revised their offer for Giannis, prepared to trade Draymond Green, Brandin Podziemski, and Jonathan Kuminga to acquire him.

Stein said, “As we initially reported on January 23rd, Jimmy Butler is not part of the Warriors’ trade package chasing Giannis. This was later confirmed, and to convince the Bucks to trade, the Warriors have clearly included Draymond Green in the deal. This offer likely also includes Jonathan Kuminga, Milwaukee native Podziemski, and several draft picks.”

Additionally, Stein mentioned that Giannis has no interest in joining the Portland Trail Blazers.

“As of now, Jrue Holiday remains a member of the Trail Blazers. As revealed last weekend, the Blazers have expressed to the Bucks that, if conditions permit, they want to acquire Giannis directly through a trade. However, sources indicate Giannis’s camp continues to signal unwillingness to re-sign with Portland. This stance not only discourages the Blazers from giving up valuable assets to trade for him but also means that in any eventual Giannis trade, Portland’s role will most likely be limited to that of a third-party facilitator.”

Furthermore, if Giannis is not traded before the deadline, the Lakers will become a major competitor for him in the upcoming summer free agency.

“But if the Bucks ultimately decide to drag this trade saga into next spring… sources say the Lakers will definitely emerge as a strong candidate to acquire this star. For the Lakers, before the trade deadline, they have little choice but to remain patient and avoid any deals involving long-term contracts, preserving maximum salary cap flexibility for next spring’s moves. The Lakers’ plan is to leverage their significant projected cap space to absorb a large contract like Giannis’s via trade—or sign other high-salary stars who might leave their teams after the playoffs to pair with their backcourt core of Doncic and Reeves. The Bucks cooperating with the Lakers in such a trade would almost certainly help them avoid taking on unwanted contracts.”

Stein also noted that the Bucks still do not want to trade Giannis. They believe that if luck favors them in the lottery, Giannis might choose to stay.

The media outlet reported, “League sources reveal that deep down, the Bucks are reluctant to trade their franchise player. They believe that if they get a favorable pick in the May lottery, they still have a chance to convince Giannis to re-sign and continue their partnership.”
