Clippers suffer a major blow! Zubac diagnosed with a grade 2 left ankle sprain, expected to miss several weeks of games.

On December 22nd Beijing time, according to renowned reporter Shams, ESPN sources revealed that Los Angeles Clippers center Zubac will be sidelined for several weeks due to a grade 2 sprain in his left ankle. Additionally, The Athletic reported he will be out for at least three weeks.

He sustained the injury near the end of the first quarter in yesterday’s Lakers versus Clippers game. While under the basket, Zubac landed on LeBron James’ foot and twisted his ankle, then headed back to the locker room. The Clippers officially updated his status, announcing he left the game due to the left ankle injury.

Slow-motion replay showed that during a pick-and-roll with a teammate, Zubac caught the ball and missed a floater. Upon landing, he stepped on LeBron James’ foot. Zubac fell to the floor in pain and did not participate in the Clippers’ defensive transition. After the referee stopped the game, Doncic ran back from the frontcourt to check on Zubac’s condition, then helped him up along with Brook Lopez.

Zubac then hobbled back to the locker room. Before leaving the game due to injury, he had recorded 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Zubac’s absence for several weeks is undoubtedly a huge setback for the Clippers. So far this season, he has played in 28 games, averaging 15.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Last season, he only missed two games. The Clippers currently hold a 7-21 record, ranking third from the bottom in the Western Conference.
