Five teams including the Warriors show interest in trading for Giannis! Three main demands revealed; leaving after recovery might be the best option

On December 14th Beijing time, reporter Haynes reported that the Knicks, Heat, Warriors, Spurs, and Timberwolves are all interested in trading for the Bucks' superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

After naming these five teams, Haynes continued: "At the core, no matter where he lands, Giannis wants to live in a warm city and play for a team in a big market. Besides these two points, his only other demand is to play for a team with championship potential — winning a title has always been his top priority."

Haynes also said: "Considering Giannis will be out for a month, if the Bucks' performance declines during this period, I can foresee a scenario — once Giannis recovers, parting ways might be the best option for both sides."

Additionally, NBA reporter Mathur cited sources revealing that before this season started, Giannis had already requested a trade, specifically hoping to be moved to the Knicks, but the Bucks and Knicks ultimately failed to agree on a trade deal.

The Bucks have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for three consecutive years. Giannis has grown tired of the team's repeated failures, making his future destination a topic of close attention.

As one of the NBA's 75 greatest players, Giannis is earning $54.1 million this season and holds a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-2028 season. This top forward’s contract does not include a trade veto.

This future Hall of Famer is currently averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game this season, with a shooting percentage of 63.9% and free throw accuracy of 63.5%. He is presently sidelined due to a right calf strain.

Sources say the Bucks have made it clear to other teams that they will not let Giannis go, but this stance could change only if Giannis himself requests a trade.

Giannis and Heat star Bam Adebayo share the same agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon Sports. Warriors guard Stephen Curry is also represented by the same agency.

Other reports indicate that both the Knicks and Heat are aware of Giannis’ willingness to join their teams. Meanwhile, the Spurs did not fully pursue a trade for Durant during the offseason, aiming to preserve enough trade assets to acquire Giannis.

The Timberwolves have reached the Western Conference Finals two years in a row. For the Edwards-led Timberwolves, Giannis could be the crucial piece needed to push the team further.

As one of the greatest players in NBA history, Giannis has won the regular season MVP award twice, earned one Finals MVP, been named Defensive Player of the Year once, and appeared in nine All-Star games. His career averages are 24 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
