The Timberwolves have been hit hard! DiVincenzo Big Toe Sprained Third-Degree Protective Boots and will be suspended indefinitely

On January 21, Beijing time, the Timberwolves officially announced that after an MRI examination, guard DiVincenzo was diagnosed with a third-degree sprain of the big toe of his left foot, and he is currently in a state of indefinite suspension. He and the Timberwolves are currently seeking a second opinion to determine the best treatment options for the future. DiVincenzo was injured in the final stages of his game against the Warriors on Jan. 16.

Sources told Shams that DiVincenzo's feet had been put on protective boots. In the past six games, he has averaged 17.5 points and 4.7 assists per game as a starter, shooting 42% from three-point range.

U.S. media reported that DiVincenzo's injury may be similar to the Thunder's Ajay Mitchell, the Thunder player has previously undergone related surgery and is expected to miss 10-12 weeks of games, and if DiVincenzo undergoes surgery, it is estimated that he will face a similar recovery timeline.

DiVincenzo was traded to the Timberwolves in June as part of the Towns trade, and he scored a season-high 28 points against the Warriors. So far this season, DiVincenzo has averaged 11 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. For the Timberwolves, it would be a big loss to be without DiVincenzo for some time to come.

DiVincenzo had a poor start to the Timberwolves, averaging 9.0 points, 3.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 24.6 minutes per game in the first 29 games, shooting just 37 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from three-point range. The 27-year-old has picked up form in recent weeks, averaging 16.4 points, 4.3 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game in his final 11 games before the injury, while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 43.6 percent from three-point range.

With DiVincenzo sidelined, rookie guard Dillingham will take on a more important role in the future. In his first two games after his return, he averaged 15.7 minutes per game and contributed 10.5 points.
