Mavericks owner is worried! Demands Anthony Davis’ medical records, fearing a rushed comeback could repeat Haliburton’s fate.

According to sources speaking to ESPN on November 13th Beijing time, Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont has demanded access to Anthony Davis’ medical records. These must prove that the 10-time All-Star big man’s left calf injury won’t be aggravated by his return, before Dumont authorizes him to play again.

Davis is marked as questionable for today’s home game versus the Suns (50% chance to play). This is the third consecutive game he has received this designation on the injury report, though he has already missed six straight games. Sources revealed Davis initially planned to return last Sunday against the Wizards, but Mavericks’ health and performance director Billsberler and Davis’ private medical team disagreed on whether the plan was safe. Ultimately, Dumont sided with Billsberler, adopting a “better safe than sorry” approach, resulting in Davis continuing to sit out.

Dumont’s personal involvement in this decision strongly indicates a breakdown of trust in general manager Nico Harrison. Harrison was dismissed Tuesday morning local time, with sources saying he had previously supported Davis’ return.

There are widespread concerns that if Davis returns before his calf strain fully heals, he could suffer a catastrophic injury. Indiana Pacers star Haliburton experienced a similar situation, rupturing his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the Finals.

Davis joined Dallas as a key return piece in the controversial trade involving Doncic, a deal that sparked strong dissatisfaction among Mavericks fans. Since joining, he has played only 14 regular-season games plus two play-in contests.

At the time of the trade, Davis was recovering from an abdominal injury. To make the team’s first home game after the trade, he rushed back — delivering a strong first half on February 8th against the Houston Rockets but then suffered a related groin strain. This injury sidelined him for the following six weeks.

So far this season, Davis has appeared in 5 games, averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, with a shooting percentage of 52% and a three-point percentage of 27.3%.
