NBA announces Players of the Week: Jokic and Cunningham both average 30+ points with undefeated records; Sengun and Antetokounmpo nominated

On November 11th, NBA officially announced the third week’s Players of the Week. Nuggets center Jokic was selected as the Western Conference Player of the Week, and Pistons guard Cunningham was chosen as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Players like Sengun and Antetokounmpo received nominations as well.

Western Conference Player of the Week: Jokic (Nuggets)

This marks Jokic’s first time winning the award this season, and the 18th time in his career he has been named Western Conference Player of the Week, ranking first in Nuggets history.

During the past week, 30-year-old Jokic averaged 31.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 13.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, shooting 69.6% from the field and 47.4% from three-point range, leading the Nuggets to a perfect 4-0 record.

In the game against the Kings, Jokic scored a season-high 34 points, shooting 14 of 22 from the field, 4 of 10 from three, and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 14 assists, making 4 steals, and blocking 2 shots.

Against the Heat, he posted 33 points, 15 rebounds, 16 assists, and 3 steals, shooting 12 of 18 from the field, 2 of 5 from three, and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. This marked his seventh career game with at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists, a feat only surpassed by Oscar Robertson, who achieved it 11 times in his career.

In the matchup versus the Warriors, Jokic shot 12 of 15 from the field and 2 of 3 from three-point range, finishing with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 1 block. This was his second game this season shooting at least 80% from the field.

In the game against the Pacers, Jokic recorded 32 points, 14 rebounds, 14 assists, and 1 steal, shooting 10 of 14 from the field, 1 of 1 from three, and 11 of 12 from the free-throw line. This performance brought his career triple-double total to 170, including 72 achieved before the fourth quarter ended. Jokic is just 11 triple-doubles away from tying Oscar Robertson’s NBA second-most career triple-doubles record of 181.

So far this season, he averages 34 minutes per game, with 25.2 points, 13.0 rebounds, 11.9 assists, and 1.9 steals, shooting 64.4% from the field. He leads the league with 6 triple-doubles, a number equal to the combined triple-doubles of the next four closest players. Additionally, he ranks first in the league in assists per game, second in rebounds per game, sixth in shooting percentage, and thirteenth in scoring average.

Eastern Conference Player of the Week: Cunningham (Pistons)

The Pistons are currently on a winning streak, and their core player has earned well-deserved recognition. Cunningham was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The Pistons went undefeated with a 4-0 record last week, during which Cunningham averaged 37.3 minutes, 31 points, 9.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, shooting 54.7% from the field. This is Cunningham’s second career time receiving this award; the last was on December 24, 2024 — also the last time a Pistons player won Player of the Week.

In the game against the Grizzlies, Cunningham made 12 of 20 shots, including 3 of 6 from three-point range, finishing with 33 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Against the Jazz, Cunningham shot 13 of 28 from the field and 3 of 9 from three, contributing 31 points, 3 rebounds, and 10 assists.

In the game versus the Nets, Cunningham scored a season-high 34 points while also delivering 10 assists, shooting 13 of 18 from the field and 2 of 6 from three-point range.

Against the 76ers, he once again posted a 20+ point double-double, scoring 26 points and handing out 11 assists in a comeback victory, shooting 9 of 20 from the field.

To date this season, Cunningham has recorded six 20+ point double-doubles, second only to Jokic who has seven.

Currently, the Pistons hold the best record in the Eastern Conference at 8-2, marking their best start in the first 10 games since 2005.

The players nominated for Player of the Week are as follows —

West: Booker (Suns), Alexander (Thunder), Murphy (Pelicans), Randle (Timberwolves), Sengun (Rockets)

East: Antetokounmpo (Bucks), Duren (Pistons), Knupel (Hornets), Mitchell (Cavaliers), Powell (Heat), Towns (Knicks)
