On November 8th Beijing time, the Lakers released their latest injury update for the upcoming game against the Hawks. Reeves is sidelined for the third consecutive game with a groin strain. James, Thybulle, and Vincent will also miss this match. Kleber’s participation is uncertain.

Up to now this season, Reeves has appeared in 7 games for the Lakers, posting averages of 31.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 9.3 assists, showing strong form. However, he has recently been troubled by injury and will miss three straight games including tomorrow’s against the Hawks. This reflects the Lakers’ cautious approach to injuries early in the long season, and also indicates the team’s sufficient roster depth, allowing Reeves time to recover. During his absence in the last two games, the Lakers defeated the Trail Blazers and Spurs, extending their winning streak to five.
Coach Reddick provided an update on James after practice. He revealed that James, who did not join the Lakers on their five-game road trip, has already had one-on-one training sessions with the coaching staff. Since James has been cleared to participate in competitive basketball activities, the team is gradually advancing his rehabilitation based on this. Reddick also mentioned that he believes it is “possible” for James to practice with the affiliated G League team, the South Bay Lakers, but no final decision has been made yet.

Even if a team is missing one of its three key players, it usually shows in their record. However, despite James missing all 9 games, Doncic missing 4, and Reeves missing 2, the Lakers have started the 2025-26 season with a 7-2 record, ranking third in the league.
How have they managed this?
“I think the key lies in our mindset,” Reddick said. “In the NBA, if you step onto the court without believing you can win, you won’t succeed. I believe our players have held that belief from the very beginning. Plus, the confidence, trust, and chemistry displayed in the second half were truly impressive — we’re really hitting our stride.”

“On one hand, our tactical system has a certain continuity, and on the other, we’ve simplified our approach by clarifying the details and pace of each play,” he explained. “Our offensive execution wasn’t great in the preseason, but it has steadily improved game by game. Also, everyone’s effort on offense has been outstanding.”
“I can point to the game against the Timberwolves as an example — that was an ‘aha moment’ where we combined high-level execution with winning many 50-50 balls and converting them into points. Our fast breaks from defense to offense were excellent. We must find a balance between aggressive offense and disciplined tactical execution.”
Reddick and his players are about to embark on their first long road trip of the season — five games in 10 days against the Hawks, Hornets, Thunder, Pelicans, and Bucks. This is an opportunity for the team to continue building momentum and extend their early-season advantage.
“We have a great team,” Reddick concluded. “I’m excited about this group and our potential moving forward.”
