According to ESPN insider Shams on November 8th Beijing time, Spurs guard Fox is set to make his season debut on Sunday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Fox is recovering from a hamstring injury and will miss his eighth straight game in today’s NBA Cup home game against the Rockets. Sources told Shams that today is considered a “progress day” for Fox as he prepares for tomorrow’s return.
This will be the first extended time Fox and Wembanyama play together since Fox was traded from the Kings to the Spurs in February this year. Previously, they only played five games together before Wembanyama’s season ended due to deep vein thrombosis.

The Spurs acquired Fox aiming to find an experienced point guard to fully unlock the potential of the young French star. Later, the Spurs unexpectedly secured the No. 2 pick in the draft lottery and selected Dylan Harper, raising questions about whether Fox, Harper, and Castle can successfully coexist on the same team.
Despite these concerns, the Spurs signed Fox to a four-year max extension in August, with the contract potentially worth up to $228.6 million.

Fox’s return is timely—Harper is currently sidelined with a left calf strain and expected to miss several weeks. Fox, a former All-Star with the Kings, is regarded as one of the best young point guards in the league. After contract talks broke down and it became clear he wouldn’t sign long-term with the Kings, he was eventually traded to the Spurs.
Last season, Fox played 62 regular-season games, averaging 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. In the 17 games he played with the Spurs, he averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. Before today’s game against the Rockets, the Spurs held a 5-2 record, ranking fifth in the Western Conference.
