No! Anthony Davis has gotten round like a ball! The Mavericks are in trouble.

American media BF:Since last year’s Lakers training camp, Anthony Davis has put on approximately 13.6 pounds.

Wow, similar to Doncic, being traded seems to have fired him up to push himself harder; anyway, everyone is working very hard now.

Brother is fantastic, fans are enthusiastically cheering him on.

However, on closer inspection, are we certain this is strength and not just weight gain?

Recent pictures reveal that Davis looks quite bloated overall, especially with a noticeably larger face.

One can only say that Dallas has great food; all the stars who go there seem to lose control and indulge themselves.

Of course, it might be the camera angle making Davis appear heavier; other photos look more normal.

But it’s clear that this guy is now more “solid” than ever before. This is welcome on the Lakers, but it feels different on the Mavericks.

The Mavericks have two big centers, Caufield and Leefly, which means Davis will mostly play the power forward spot; he needs to stay agile rather than gain weight.

Moreover, Davis has always been somewhat injury-prone; gaining weight blindly will only increase his physical burden and raise the risk of injuries. Without health, everything else is futile. The Mavericks’ chances for a championship this season and in the future will dim, especially since they’ve lost their outside scoring core and cannot afford to lose their inside anchor.

It’s worth mentioning thatDavis’s eye injury is difficult to heal, and doctors have told him he must wear protective goggles for the rest of his career to play. This somewhat affects his shooting feel, and now with the weight gain, it will be hard for him to thrive at the power forward spot. He might be better suited to center, but currently, the Mavericks’ roster doesn’t allow him to stay at center long-term.

To be honest, I’m quite looking forward to the Davis & Flagg frontcourt duo. Both are tall, long-armed, and athletically gifted, excelling on both ends of the court. They can cover any position on the floor and are perfect for the Mavericks’ small-ball lineups, though only usable in certain situations. As mentioned, Caufield and Leefly also need playing time. This “sweet problem” is still a problem. Now it’s up to Kidd to manage rotations properly.

The 18-year-old Flagg has already shown strong readiness to compete. In Mavericks’ training, defensively he can help block shots on Davis and also guard opposing backcourt players one-on-one.

On offense, he can create his own shot with the ball and also space the floor with catch-and-shoot jumpers.

In this year’s NBA Summer League, Flagg played two games, averaging 31.3 minutes, 20.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1 block per game. His shooting percentages were 35.7%, 21.4%, and 57.1%. Beyond his physical gifts, his skilled and versatile technique is even more impressive. If he continues to grow aggressively, he could become the new face of the NBA in time.

The Mavericks have a luxurious and deep roster this season, with All-Star caliber players across guards, wings, and big men. The uncertainty lies in when Irving, who tore his left ACL in early March, will return and whether he can regain his peak form. According to insider Shams, the former might make a triumphant comeback around January next year.

Mavericks, Thunder, Nuggets, Rockets, Lakers, Warriors, Timberwolves, and Clippers... The Western Conference in the 25-26 season will be dazzling with stars and wildly competitive.
