2-for-1 trade completed! The extraordinary talent makes a comeback to the NBA

Insider Scotto reported that the Jazz have reached a signing agreement with Bamba. This news has been officially confirmed by the Jazz organization.

Immediately after, Jazz reporter Anderson commented, the signing of Bamba was facilitated via a trade through their G League team Salt Lake City Stars, trading Isaiah Wright and Keyshawn Justice to the Pelicans’ Birmingham Squadron to acquire the signing rights for Bamba.

During the 24-25 season, Bamba averaged 21 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game while playing for the Birmingham Squadron in the G League.

It is worth mentioning that, this summer offseason, a CBA team made serious contact with Bambabut unfortunately, the deal did not materialize. Moreover, domestic media revealed that the pre-tax salary offer exceeded 3 million USD.

Born on May 12, 1998, Bamba is now 27 years old. He was the 6th overall pick in the 2018 first round, standing 2.13 meters tall with a 2.39-meter wingspan. A truly exceptional big man with elite athleticism, yet he has struggled to live up to the high expectations and nearly had to leave the NBA to continue his career abroad.

So far in his NBA career, Bamba has averaged 16.8 minutes per regular season game, producing 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. His playoff experience is limited to one season (22-23) with the Lakers, where he played just 3.3 minutes per game and scored no points, contributing minimally.

Besides the Magic, Lakers, and Pelicans, Bamba has also played for the 76ers, Clippers, and now the Jazz. His best season was 21-22, averaging 10.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game, which earned him a two-year $21 million contract extension that summer. Since then, his career has declined, leading to a journeyman path.

According to the latest updates, although Bamba has signed with the Jazz, he is expected to play for their G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars, in the upcoming season. This likely means he signed a training camp deal (Exhibit 10 contract).

Nevertheless, no matter what, Bamba still retains a chance to return to the NBA. This offseason, besides the CBA, clubs from the Greek league Olympiacos and Serbian league Belgrade Partizan also showed interest in signing him.

He resolutely declined lucrative offers just to stay in the NBA, possibly because he still has unfinished dreams. Wishing him all the best.
