The first Weekly All-Star is here, is the first All-Star still far away?

Today's 14 NBA games, perhaps by coincidence, Janduku lost all games today. Durant lost to the Suns' unsightly defense, Curry lost to his 10-point slump, James lost to the team's careless turnovers and the Pistons' youth storm.

On such a day, when Janduku loses at the same time, the weekly best of the week is two young champions. You can feel the change of times, the older generation is going downhill, and the younger climbers are stepping up to the center of the stage.

Last week's best of the week was Wembanyama of the Class of 2023 in the west and Cunningham the top of the Class of 2021 in the east. Wembanyama averaged 36 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7 blocks per game last week, leading the Spurs to win all two games last week, shooting 52.5%, 47.8% and 82.6% from three.

Cunningham averaged 27 points, 5.3 rebounds and 12.7 assists per game last week, leading the team to a 2-1 record. Everybody was talking about this being Wembanyama's first weekly best, and in fact it was Cunningham's first weekly best.

Wembanyama's recent form has been nothing short of terrifying, and after just 10 blocks in a single game, he slapped seven caps in the first 12 minutes of the game against the 76ers today. If it weren't for the unexpected factor of Embiid's eviction, which made the 76ers reuse Yabusele, who had better space, I'm afraid Wemban would have had 10 blocks in two consecutive games today.

But what has impressed me the most so far this season has been the improvement in his shooting, and I said at the beginning of the season that Wembanyama was shooting too many three-pointers. But it turns out that if a certain shooting efficiency is maintained, it is not a problem for the big man to shoot more threes.

Wembanyama's three-point shooting percentage has now been adjusted from a little over 20 percent at the start of the season to 35.6 percent. In his last three games, Wembanyama has made a whopping 36 three-point attempts, making 17 of them on 47.2 percent shooting.

Wembanyama has averaged 24.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists per game and nearly 4 blocks so far this season.

Cunningham is also improving this season. In the eight games before playing the Lakers today, he averaged 25.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 11.5 assists per game, shooting 50% from the field and 43.6% from three-point range, and 3 shots per game with a true shooting rate of 59.9%.

The Pistons beat the Suns and Lakers in a row, and Cunningham faced Durant and James in a row, and they all won the final victory. Although there is no goal on the outside today, the defense and organization always come first, and it is 20+10 in the account. Now CC's average of 20+10 assists per game is very stable, and it has come up with the stability that a ball-holding core should have.

Compared to the previous three seasons, CC, in the fourth year of his career, has a slight improvement in shooting percentage (except for free throws, of course, which are not too large). So far this season, he has averaged 23.9 points, 9.7 assists and 7 rebounds per game, which is also completely an All-Star level.

The last game against the Suns can be regarded as a Cunningham-style declaration. Although the data of 28 points and 13 assists is not an exaggeration, the few singles in the face of Durant at the last moment played the confidence that a champion guard should have. In the past, the criticized scoring explosiveness was not strong, and there are many examples of refutation this season.

Of course, we have to admit that Cunningham is a champion and his athleticism is really not very good, but he has never been able to become a champion because of his dynamic talent. He is far ahead of his peers in terms of ball intelligence and big-picture vision, and his solid defensive and playmaking skills are the top of his talent.

Compared to Wembanyama, Cunningham appears to be more low-key, without Wembanyama's explosive single-game performance, nor Wembanyama's exaggerated performance on the court. But one step at a time, Cunningham also came here and got the credit he deserved. The previous season of disastrous defeats did not dampen Cunningham's desire to win, and he never forgot to lead the team to turn things around.

This season's Cunningham has fulfilled its previous promise and given the Motor City hope for a resurgence. Sometimes, hope is more valuable than dreams because it predicts the future and anything is possible.
