Officially announced joining! Hello, Nash! We've waited a full 13 years.

The owner personally announced:Nash has joined the Suns as the team’s senior advisor.

This guy spent up to ten seasons with the Suns, averaging 14.4 points and 9.4 assists per game, and earned MVP honors in the 04-05 and 05-06 seasons.

Born on February 7, 1974, Nash is now 51 years old. Drafted 15th overall in the first round of 1996, he had an 18-year NBA career playing for the Suns, Mavericks, and Lakers. He averaged 14.3 points, 3 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game in the regular season, shooting 49%, 42.8%, and 90.4% on the three shooting percentages; in the playoffs, he averaged 17.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists, with shooting splits of 47.3%, 40.6%, and 90%.

In March 2015, Nash announced his retirement. During his NBA career, besides the two MVP awards mentioned, he was selected to the All-NBA team 7 times, led the league in assists 5 times, was an 8-time All-Star, won the Skills Challenge twice, and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.

After retiring, Nash first served as a player development advisor for the Warriors in 2015, won an NBA championship with them in 2017, became the head coach of the Nets in September 2020, was dismissed in November 2022, and now has returned to the court as a senior advisor for the Suns.

During Nash’s coaching tenure with the Nets from 2020 to 2022, he had the Harden-Irving-Durant trio, but due to various reasons, the results fell far short of expectations. All four have long since left Brooklyn and settled comfortably with new teams.

Now back with Phoenix, Nash may only be a senior advisor, but you never know when he might suddenly pick up the coaching reins again.

Back to the point, we might soon see Nash personally guiding Booker and Jalen Green. Booker’s leadership and playmaking skills are qualities the latter two lack. Especially Booker, as the new undisputed core of the Suns, he must lead the team forward in all aspects, no longer just as a scorer.
