On December 21, Beijing time, ESPN invited 100 basketball experts to conduct a mock vote on the MVP, and the results showed that the current MVP biggest favorite is Nuggets star Jokic. He received 57 of the 100 first-place votes and topped the list with a total score of 827 points. Alexander ranked second with 678 points and Brother Alphabet ranked third with 643 points. Durant is 8th with 7 points, Curry is 10th with 2 points, Thick Eyebrows is 11th with 1 point, and James is 0 points and is not on the list.
As in the NBA's official MVP voting, each voting expert can write the names of five players in turn: 10 points for the first place, 7 points for the second, 5 points for the third, 3 points for the fourth, and 1 point for the fifth.
A total of 14 players received votes, and the specific voting scores and rankings are as follows-
1. Jokic (827 points), 2. Alexander (678 points), 3. Antetokounmpo (643 points), 4. Tatum (267 points), 5. Doncic (123 points), 6. Mitchell (30 points), 7. Towns (14 points), 8. Durant (7 points), 9. Brunson (5 points), 10. Curry (2 points), 11. Thick eyebrows, Wembanyama, Edwards, Morant (1 point)
This is the first time this season that ESPN has invited experts to conduct a mock MVP vote, and Jokic looks poised to become another star to win four MVPs in five years after Bill Russell and James. If Jokic wins his fourth career regular season MVP, he will tie Chamberlain and James for fourth place on the all-time MVP list, ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6), Jordan (5), and Russell (5).
About a third of the way through the regular season, Jokic, Alexander and Antetokounmpo are now clearly ahead of the other contenders.
So far this season, Jokic has averaged 31 points, 13 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game, shooting 56.4% from the field and 50% from three-point range, including a career-high three-point shooting percentage.
He won two regular season MVPs in 2019 and 2020 and currently leads the league with 32.7 points per game, shooting 61.4 percent from the field, in addition to 11.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.8 blocks. He also just led the Bucks to the NBA Cup and was named the cup MVP.
Although the above two people's statistics are dazzling, Alexander's Thunder are currently 21-5 and have the best record in the West. Alexander also made it clear that chasing his first MVP trophy is one of his goals. So far this season, Alexander has averaged 30.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 1 block per game.
It's worth mentioning that the league now has a requirement to play at least 65 games, so for these popular stars, staying healthy and avoiding injuries is an important prerequisite for the eventual award. Last season, ESPN cast MVP for the first time, and Embiid was the frontrunner, but injuries prevented him from appearing on the subsequent MVP mock voting list.
