On December 19, Beijing time, according to Shams of the Register, sources revealed to ESPN that Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has agreed to re-sign a lifetime contract with Adidas.
Since Lillard's contract with Adidas expired last offseason, his agent, Aaron Goodwin, has been negotiating a new contract with opposing management.
Lillard and his teammate Antetokounmpo just led the Bucks to an NBA Cup championship in Las Vegas. Lillard was excited to lift the cup after the game and sang in celebration in the locker room. So far this season, Lillard has averaged 25.7 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1 steal per game.
Lillard became the fourth active NBA player to have a lifetime shoe endorsement contract, following LeBron James (Nike), Kevin Durant (Nike) and Stephen Curry (Under Armour/Curry brand). Goodwin also negotiated initial Nike contracts for James and Durant.
As of last season, Lillard's career total salary has reached $281 million, and his salary is $48.78 million this season, $54.12 million next season, and a player option of $58.45 million for the 2026-27 season.ESPN reports that the 34-year-old defender will earn more than $600 million in his career, stemming from his on-court salary and shoe contract.
Lillard is one of the NBA's 75 biggest stars and is an eight-time All-Star. He has been a part of Adidas since he entered the league in 2012. Lillard played 11 seasons with the Trail Blazers and has become a pillar of the Portland community and has run many campaigns in his adopted home through Adidas.
Adidas also announced this year that it would name the stadium at its headquarters after Lillard.
