On December 15, Beijing time, the Warriors and the Nets reached a trade agreement, Schroder was sent to the Warriors, and the German guard then updated his personal social media and posted a P picture of himself wearing a Warriors jersey, with the caption: "Golden State Warriors #Warriors Country". ESPN has also rated the deal, although the deal has not yet been officially announced.
According to current reports, it is now a 5-for-2 deal. The Warriors sent Melton, Beekman and three second-round picks to get the Nets' Schroder and a second-round pick. ESPN gave the trade rating of A- to the Warriors and B+ to the Nets.
Warriors Trade Rating A-
When Curry is not on the court, the Warriors' offensive efficiency is worse than 96% of the league's roster, and it is even more significant compared to last season, because when Curry was off the court last season, the Warriors had Paul to organize the offense.
After losing Paul, the Warriors used second-year guard Podzemski as a backup point guard, a position he has spent 80 percent of the season on, compared to 14 percent last season.
Podzemski's shooting percentage has plummeted this season, shooting 26.5 percent from three-point range with the ball and 23.5 percent from three-point range on the ball, the worst of any player who has taken at least 50 shots.
The Warriors' trade is equivalent to getting a better Podzemski to fill the team's void. Schroder is now averaging a career-high 6.6 assists per game, in addition to averaging 18.4 points per game while shooting 39 percent from three-point range. Schroder can play pick-and-roll with TJD, and can also give Hield and Moody more shooting opportunities. Lee Kyle and Payton II, who are not strong in projection, may not be able to adapt to the second team led by Schroder.
The addition of Schroder may not put the Warriors back at the top of the West, and the Warriors will certainly continue to look for a star to partner Curry. The good news is that adding Schroder now won't really affect that pursuit. The Warriors don't have to give up any first-round picks in this deal.
Salary expert Marks said the Warriors' trading Melton for Schroder added more than $200,000 to their salary, leaving them more than $300,000 short of the No. 1 line.
Nets trade rating B+
The Nets, who were predicted to win only about 18 games before the season, traded in June to trade back their 2025 first-round pick from the Rockets with an eye toward a high-pick rookie in next year's draft.
But the Nets have won 10 of their first 25 games so far, and if the season ends now, they could even be Eastern Conference play-in teams. This forced the Nets to trade some veterans and start messing around.
Schroder's performance this season has increased his trade value, and it is already a good deal to be able to get back some second-round picks. After all, when the Nets got Schroder, they didn't send any draft picks. Theoretically, Schroder could continue to be traded, such as a return to the Lakers, but that would require the Nets to be willing to accept Vincent's contract. Vincent's salary for next season is $11.5 million.
As Marks said, the Nets are expected to free up up to $70 million in salary space next summer, the most in the league, with a chance to sign a top-paid star.
