Stanton may start in the outfield for the first time since 2023 tomorrow.

Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees—who hasn't played in the outfield since September 14, 2023—might take the field as an outfielder in tomorrow's game against the Astros at Yankee Stadium, as announced by manager Aaron Boone.

Stanton has not started since Tuesday's game against the Rangers at Globe Life Field, as Aaron Judge became the designated hitter the following day while he was still recovering strength in his right elbow flexor.

When Judge was placed on the injured list (IL) on July 26, Boone indicated that Stanton would have limited appearances in the outfield. Stanton is likely to start against Astros left-hander Framber Valdez tomorrow, having trained in the corner outfield positions over the past week.

Stanton has missed most of the first half of the season due to injuries to both elbows. Over the years, he has also suffered multiple lower-body injuries, which have hindered his ability to play in the outfield.

When asked about Stanton's performance in the outfield during training, Boone said, "Very good. More importantly, when I talk to him, [when I ask him] how he feels about it, whether he thinks he can go out there and represent the team, and so forth. Those are my main points of conversation, and G (Stanton) has been very candid in that regard."

“I think he feels good about his current state and the training in the outfield over the past week. After talking with [third base and outfield coach Luis Rojas], he feels that Stanton's situation is improving each time. Hopefully, he gets through today well and can play tomorrow.”

Since returning on June 16, Stanton has performed well in 37 games, with a batting line of .268/.340/.528, including 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. In the last 27 games, with runners in scoring position, Stanton has 11 hits in 26 at-bats (.423) and has driven in 17 runs.
