The 38-year-old Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish of the Padres started today (6th) against the Diamondbacks. Darvish pitched four innings, giving up three hits, including one home run, while striking out five batters. He allowed three runs, all earned, but it ultimately did not influence the game's result. However, after nearly four hours of hard-fought battle, the Padres triumphed over their opponents with a score of 10 to 5.

This was Darvish's sixth start of the season, using 72 pitches. He faced a challenge right from the start of the first inning. Although he struck out the leadoff hitter, the mixed-race star Corbin Carroll, he then hit a batter and allowed a two-run home run from Lourdes Gurriel Jr., the cleanup hitter for the Diamondbacks.

In the second inning, the Padres tied the game thanks to a solo home run from Xander Bogaerts and a timely hit from Jake Cronenworth. However, Darvish had control issues in the fourth inning, first giving up a double to Geraldo Perdomo, followed by two wild pitches and a walk, allowing the Diamondbacks to take a 3 to 2 lead, which led to Darvish's early exit.

Nevertheless, after the Diamondbacks changed pitchers in the sixth inning, the Padres managed to tie the game again with four consecutive walks. In the seventh inning, they took a 5 to 3 lead with two doubles. But in the bottom of the eighth, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit another home run to level the score. Ultimately, in the 11th inning of extra time, the Padres scored five runs with consecutive hits to win the game. Currently, the Padres remain three games behind the NL West leaders, the Dodgers.
