The return of injured starters for the Dodgers forced a player trade, and May lamented: feeling pushed out of the team.

Before the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers traded Dustin May to the Boston Red Sox, concluding his seven-year career with the Dodgers. In a recent interview, May confessed that he felt a bit like he was pushed out of the team, which underscores the strength of the Dodgers' starting pitching rotation.

This season, May has overcome his injury troubles, starting 18 games and pitching 104 innings, achieving a record of 6 wins and 7 losses with an ERA of 4.85. However, considering that several of the Dodgers' starting pitchers have returned from the injured list, he may be shifted to a relief pitcher role in the future. Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes recently revealed that part of the reason for trading May was to support his desire to continue as a starting pitcher.

May recently reported to the Red Sox and discussed the trade in an interview, saying, “I feel like I was pushed out; there are many great players on that team. I’m really excited to be here and it’s thrilling to be part of this team.”

May continued, “The emotional ups and downs of this process have been significant; leaving is certainly sad since I’ve spent my entire career there. But now that I’m joining this team, I’m truly very, very excited, and I hope we can make a push for the playoffs.”
