The Dodgers have activated Muncy and placed Edman on the injured list.

The Dodgers have activated infielder Max Muncy from the injured list and placed infielder Tommy Edman on the injured list.

The 34-year-old Muncy has been on the injured list since July 4. He participated in five rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, achieving five hits in 15 at-bats, including one home run. This season, he has played 81 games with a batting average of .250, hitting 13 home runs and driving in 55 runs. He hit his 200th career home run against the Yankees on June 1 and is tied with Matt Kemp for seventh place in franchise history with 203 career home runs. He has played eight seasons with the Dodgers, boasting a career batting line of .232/.358/.484 and accumulating 575 career RBIs. Before joining the Dodgers, he played two seasons with the Athletics, hitting five home runs and driving in 17 runs over 96 games. He was selected by the Athletics in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Baylor University.

The 29-year-old Edman has been placed on the injured list for the second time this season due to an ankle sprain. This season, he has a batting average of .228 over 86 games, with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs. The 2024 NL Championship Series MVP is in his second season with the Dodgers, having hit 18 home runs in 123 games. Over his seven seasons with the Cardinals (2019-2023) and the Dodgers (2024-), he has a batting line of .259/.313/.407, with 71 home runs and 286 RBIs. The former Stanford University player was selected in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB Draft by St. Louis.
