Yankees captain Aaron Judge is expected to return next week after a flexor strain.

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge took part in on-field batting practice today at loanDepot park prior to the game against the Miami Marlins. Yankees manager Aaron Boone mentioned that the team aims to activate the reigning American League MVP during their series against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday or Thursday.

Judge was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right elbow flexor strain, which occurred while making a throw from right field. Boone revealed that the team arranged for Judge to travel to Tampa, Florida, on Sunday for live batting practice at the player development center, with the goal of rejoining the team as a designated hitter during the Rangers series.

This elbow injury happened on July 23 during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays when Judge was hurt trying to prevent Davis Schneider from scoring at home plate. Despite showing signs of pain, he completed the game and continued to play in the following two games against the Blue Jays and the Phillies until being placed on the injured list.

Yankees medical staff confirmed that Judge's ulnar collateral ligament is not acutely damaged, but he received platelet-rich plasma injections when he was placed on the injured list last Sunday. During the recent home series, Judge only participated in light defensive drills and has not resumed overhand throwing. Boone estimates that his throwing practice will restart between August 9 and 14.
