Scott has been placed on the injured list due to left elbow inflammation, intensifying the Dodgers' bullpen crisis.

The Dodgers had initially planned to reinforce their bullpen before the trade deadline on July 31, but the loss of a key player has made this need more urgent.

Left-handed reliever Tanner Scott has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow inflammation before today's game against the Twins. Manager Dave Roberts revealed to the media that team doctor Neal ElAttrache has yet to evaluate the results of his MRI.

When asked if Scott could return this season, Roberts stated, "The situation will become clearer after Dr. ElAttrache assesses it. However, he has communicated optimistically with the training staff, which is better than we expected last night."

Right-handed reliever Alexis Díaz has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This pitcher, who was acquired from the Reds in May, joined the team in Milwaukee two weeks ago but did not pitch; this time he will have a long-term opportunity in the bullpen.

In yesterday's game, the Dodgers defeated the Twins 5-2 in the ninth inning, where Scott exited due to what Roberts described as a "tingling sensation" in his forearm. After throwing a 2-2 pitch to Ryan Jeffers, he appeared to be in pain and left the game after being checked by the manager and trainers.

Roberts described Scott as "downcast" after the game, emphasizing that his discomfort only occurred during specific pitches, not throughout the entire game.

Reliever Kirby Yates, who took over, nearly allowed the tying run, but fortunately, center fielder James Outman made a catch on Carlos Correa's potential three-run homer to end the game.

Scott, who joined the Dodgers in the offseason for four years and $72 million, is actually the team's primary closer. While he has shown flashes of dominance, his stability in the ninth inning has been lacking—posting a 4.14 ERA over 47 appearances with 19 saves.

"This is a significant blow," Roberts admitted, "He hasn't pitched to his potential yet, but his ability to eat innings and be available at any time is crucial and makes him a key player."

The Dodgers' injured list also includes four other key players: Blake Treinen, Michael Kopech, Brusdar Graterol, and Evan Phillips. Treinen is expected to return by the end of the month, Kopech could return by late August due to a 60-day injured list restriction, Graterol might be back in September, while Phillips is out for the season due to ligament transplant surgery.

Given the frequent injuries and the fluctuating conditions of Scott and Yates, the Dodgers had already planned to bolster their bullpen before the trade deadline. The severity of Scott's injury will determine whether the team needs to seek reliable bullpen help.

"The choice of personnel will depend on the game situation and the available pitchers that night," Roberts said, "Among the current members, some are performing well, while others need improvement."

Although Yates is a candidate for the closer role, he belongs to the group that needs improvement. This veteran right-hander has recorded three saves, but opponents have a slugging percentage of 50.0% against him (compared to just 18.2% last year), primarily due to his inconsistent splitter.

If Treinen completes consecutive appearances in his rehab assignment (scheduled for this week), he will be able to return and take on closing duties. Alex Vesia may also be involved in ninth-inning scenarios.

As for the trade market, General Manager Brandon Gomes stated that Scott's injury has not fundamentally changed the team's strategy. However, adding one or two pitchers would help stabilize a bullpen that leads the majors in innings pitched but ranks 24th with a 4.35 ERA.

"As for the current situation," Gomes stated, "I have great confidence in the existing pitching staff and the players who are about to return."
