The Texas Rangers will sign right-hand pitcher Craig Kimbrel to a minor league contract, according to MLB sources on its official website today, and the team has not officially confirmed the move.
The 37-year-old Kim Brair was designated by the Warriors on June 7 and has only conceded one game this season. He signed a minor league contract with the Warriors at the end of spring training and spent most of the first two months of the regular season adjusting to his form in minor leagues.
On June 8 (Friday night local time), Kimblel scored a game for the Warriors without conceding a point, reaching a top speed of 92.8 mph and an average of 91.6 mph.
Kimblel won the National League Rookie King during his first spell with the Warriors in 2011, and was selected as an All-Star nine times in his 16-year major league career, accumulating 440 successful rescues and a 2.59 ERA. Although he was still selected as an All-Star with a 3.26 ERA when he played for the Phillies in 2023, his ERA soared to 5.33 with the Orioles in 2024, leading to a designated transfer in September of the same year.
While Kim Blair is no longer in peak form, the signing is a low-risk, high-reward operation for the Rangers, who have a 3.56 ERA (seventh in the American League).
