Shi Yuqi continues to defend his title in Indonesia, aiming for his third Super 1000 title in 2025

China's Shi Yuqi made it to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Indonesia Badminton Super 1000 tournament to defend his title and set his sights on winning his third Super 1000 title of the year.

Shi Yuqi, ranked No. 2 in the world, defeated Japan's world No. 22 Yushi Tanaka 21-14, 21-7 in the men's singles round on the 5th, winning all three meetings between the two sides. Shi Yuqi, who had been on fire for the first four months of the year, unexpectedly dropped out in the second round of last week's Singapore Super 750 and is now looking to bounce back at the Indonesia Open.

Shi Yuqi has won two Super 1000 titles this year, both of which are the highest Super 1000 titles on the BWF World Tour, namely the Malaysia Super 1000 and All England, and he will now be aiming for his third Super 1000 title of the year this week.
