"Baseball Encyclopedia" baseball how to play baseball baseball No. 9 position

Introduce the core gameplay and rules of baseball in the simplest way, and you can understand it with no foundation:

One sentence goal

Attacker:Knock the ball away with the bat, then run 4 bases (one counterclockwise circle) to score.

Defender:Do everything you can to get the attacker out of the game and prevent them from scoring.

The venue looks like this

4 Base Packs:Home Plate (Starting Ground) → First Base → Second Base → Third Base → 1 point for running back to home plate.

Pitcher's Mound:A raised mound in the middle where the defending pitcher stands and throws the ball.

Sector area:The grass inside the field is called the "inner field", and the grass outside the field is called the "outer field".

How do I score?

After hitting the ball, the batter runs 4 bases counterclockwise (must step on each base) and runs back to home plate to score 1 point.

Best-in-class scenario: If the ball flies straight out of the court (home run), both the batsman and his teammate who is already on base will score straight away!

Key rules shorthand

Pitching Matchup:

The pitcher throws the ball above home plate (the hit zone), and if the batter doesn't hit it, it counts as one "good shot."

Accumulate 3 good goals → batsman out (strikeout).

The pitcher throws 4 bad balls (off the good zone) → batter keeps first base.

What happens after the shot?

The batter becomes a runner and rushes desperately to first base.

There are two ways for the defender to let him out:

✅ Catch: The ball is caught without landing (the batsman is immediately out).

✅ Block/Touch: The ball passes to the base pack before the runner does, or touches the runner's body.

Out & Sideways:

The attacker has a total of 3 outs→ Offensive and defensive exchange (half inning).

Each game is played 9 innings, and the team with the most points wins.

What to watch the game?

Pitcher VS Hitter:The pitcher uses a variety of tricky shots (fast balls, curveballs) to keep hitters out of reach.

Defensive God Operation:The outfielder pounces to catch the ball, and the infielder passes quickly to create a double kill.

Running Bases:Stealing bases (sprinting while the pitcher is not looking), sacrificial hitting (deliberately going out to send teammates to score).

For example

Team A's batter hits the ball to the outfield and runs to second base while the defender picks up the ball.

The next batsman hits a high flyer but is caught by the opponent → 1 person is out.

The third batter hit a boccia ball, and the defender passed to first base to block → two outs.

The fourth batter hits a home run! All the runners + batters on the field score together → Team A scores 3 points in one go!

The next time you watch a game, just stare at the cycle of "batting→running bases→ defending and intercepting", and you will be able to understand 80%! ️
