Paulini aims to break the 40-year women's singles title drought at home, and Gauff will fight for the first clay title WTA1000

Paulini is aiming to break through the hosts' 40-year title drought in the women's singles tournament in Rome and will face Gauff's final test. In the women's singles final of the Rome Tennis Championships in 2025, Italy's No. 6 seed Paulini will face the United States' No. 4 seed Gauff for the crown. Paolini will carry on the expectations of the host country's fans and become the first Italian to reach the top of the women's singles in Rome after Reggi in 1985.

In the Rome tennis tournament against Gauff for the crown, Paulini aims to break through the 40-year championship drought of the Italian women's singles tennis tournament in Rome.

Paulini said in an interview, "I just enjoyed the game and didn't think too much about the past. Paolini is also the third home team in the Open era to reach the Women's Singles final of the tournament, the last being 2014 runner-up Errani. Errani lost to the American legend "Serena Williams" in the women's singles final, and now Paulini's last obstacle to achieving his dream of winning the championship happens to be Gauff from the United States.

Gauff will be looking to take her first WTA1000 women's singles title on clay in Rome after finishing second in Madrid. The last time the American won the women's singles in Rome and advanced to the final was in 2016, when Serena Williams defeated Keys to win her fourth individual title.

After a fierce battle in the women's singles semifinals to the third set of the tie-break, Gao Fu was overjoyed to finally defeat Zheng Qinwen.

Paulini and Gauff have faced each other three times before, with the latter having a slight advantage with 2 wins and 1 loss. However, at the recent Women's Open in Stuttgart (clay), Paulini won her first career victory against Gauff.

Paulini is also expected to compete for a double at home, and she is currently partnering Errani to reach the Women's Doubles semi-finals, where she won the quarter-finals against Gauff and Filipino rising star Ella.

Zheng Qinwen lost to Gauff in the top 4.

In the women's singles semifinals on the 15th local time, Paulini ended the American "dark horse" Stearns 7-5, 6-1, and Gauff narrowly defeated Chinese Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen 7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-6 (4). Zheng Qinwen said after the game, "It was a regrettable game, I made some mistakes, and I got opportunities, but I couldn't take them. But that's tennis, I need to adjust a bit and get back on my feet.
