The "tacit sword" incident broke out in the all-Japan college fencing competition, and the coaches of other participating schools complained afterwards

Japan's "Kyodo News" and "Yomiuri Shimbun" and other media reported that the qualifiers for Japan's national college fencing tournament broke out in a "tacit sword" incident, and a fencer is suspected of deliberately losing to an opponent from the same university in order to qualify.

Japan's fencing has a brilliant record in recent years, but there was a handicap incident in high school (not the fencer involved in the picture)

According to relevant reports, the prefectural college sports liaison department of the National Association of Higher Education and Sports of Japan revealed on May 13 that in the Gifu Prefecture qualifiers for fencing events held on the 10th of this month, the fencers involved in the figgernautical qualifiers were deliberately defeated.

In this women's epee qualifier, six competitors will compete in a single round-robin event, and the two highest-ranked fencers will represent Gifu in the national competition. However, in the final round of the tournament, two fencers from Hashima Kita High School lost with one with four wins and one with two wins and two losses, leaving the winner with a 3-2 record and a better score difference to qualify for the national competition in the second place overall.

However, the coaches of the other participating schools complained to the tournament that the prefectural high school sports liaison department (prefectural sports high school company) believed that the defeated fencers had deliberately lost at the behest of a person related to the fencers, so that two fencers from the same school could qualify for the national competition, and finally declared the tournament null and void and would replay it at a later date, but did not announce the punishment. Akihiko Taneda, the head of the fencing department of the county high company, said: "It's a pity that such a thing happened to the event held by the department. ”
