Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic will no longer be coached by Andy Murray
The 37-year-old Djokovic recruited former rival Murray into his coaching staff on the eve of the 2025 Australian Open, but after six months together, the two sides decided to part ways. "Thank you, Coach Andy, for your dedication, companionship and support on and off the court over the past six months," the 24-time Grand Slam men's singles champion wrote on social media, confirming the news. ”
The partnership between the two was smooth at first – Djokovic beat Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open to reach the quarter-finals despite his ill health at the time. Despite retiring from the semi-final against Alexander Zverev due to injury, he was full of praise for Murray's support.
However, after returning from rehabilitation, Djokovic's form has not been ideal. Several of his notable defeats this year include a loss to Yakubu Mensik in the final of the Miami Open, a second-round loss to Alejandro Tabillo at the Monte Carlo Masters, and a loss to Matteo Arnaldi at the Madrid Masters.
Murray won three Grand Slam titles and three Olympic medals (two of them gold) as a player before retiring after Paris 2024.
Novak Djokovic, who is still the reigning Olympic men's singles champion, will be next to the Geneva Open next week, where he has accepted a wild card. He reached the semi-finals of the tournament last year.
