ESPN reported on the 8th local time, citing sources, that Pacquiao will make a comeback in Las Vegas on July 19 to compete with Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship; Barrios has held the WBC welterweight title belt since last June.
The 46-year-old Pacquiao has won a record eight World Titles, from flyweight to super welterweight. He played a total of 72 fights in his career, with a 62-8-2 record, and retired in 2021.
Pacquiao, who served as a Philippine senator from 2016 to 2022 and ran for president in 2022, is currently running for the Senate, with elections scheduled for May 12. Pacquiao's fast pace and astonishing punching speed make him one of the top offensive boxers in the history of the sport, and he will be inducted into the International Hall of Fame next month.
The last time the 46-year-old competed in sanctioned bouts was on August 21, 2021, when he lost by unanimous decision to Ugas in the fight for the WBA (Super) Welterweight Championship.
