Russian figure skater and women's singles champion at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships Kamila Valieva has published a post about the upcoming May 9 holiday.

"May 9 is a big holiday for our country. On this day, we traditionally remember the exploits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, because they were exemplars of bravery and love for the Motherland. Today, when our country is once again facing challenges, the commemoration of the victors becomes an important point in time", Valieva wrote on social media.
At the end of January 2024, it was reported that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules, with the suspension date beginning on December 25, 2021. In this way, the women's figure skater will be able to compete at the end of December 2025 and start training in October of the same year. With the support of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Valieva has participated in a number of ice shows in recent years.
Three-time Olympic champion and Russian State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina broke the news at the end of April that Valieva was not punished for having a microdose of doping in her body, but for athletes from other countries, and even Russian athletes are given the shortest possible ban, and often not punished at all. Unfortunately, Valieva and her lawyer could not find the guilty adult. They did not hand over the "real culprit" to WADA, and Valieva's defense was not confirmed, there is a double standard.
