If Wong Miao-chu comes to the Malaysian badminton national team, can she bring a change to the Malaysian women's singles? In order to improve the strength level of the Malaysian women's singles, the Malaysian Badminton Association recently said that it is willing to accept any possibility. The secretary of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, Goh Chee Keong, said that the Badminton Association welcomes any suggestions that can improve the women's singles players, including welcoming the return of former national player Wong Miao-chu to motivate the players.
Huang Miaozhu won the 2007 China Open in a row against Zhu Lin, Zhang Ning and Xie Xingfang, an achievement that is still talked about today
As we all know, Wong Miao-chu is the best Malaysian women's singles player in recent times, having reached a career-high No. 7 in 2008. The most impressive title is the 2007 China Open Badminton Championships. At that time, Huang Miaozhu successively defeated China's three top stars, the world champion Zhu Lin, the two-time Olympic gold medalist Zhen Ning, and the world No. 1 Xie Xingfang at that time, and shocked the badminton world by winning the championship.
However, since Wong Miao-chu retired in 2011, the level of Malaysian women's singles has dropped sharply, and there has never been a player who can shine on the international stage. Malaysia's best women's singles players are Goh Jin Wei, ranked 43rd in the world, and Le Shana, ranked 52nd in the world.
Wong is a role model for all Malaysian women's singles players, and the Malaysian Badminton Association is willing to try any new way to boost the morale of the women's singles players, such as arranging for Miao Chu to meet with the women's singles players and share their experiences to motivate them. In this regard, Wu Zhiqiang said: "Although we have no plans at present, we are willing to listen to any suggestions."
Meanwhile, Malaysia's number one Women's Doubles duo Tan Kang Lok and Tina's future at Malaysia remains a question mark as they have yet to sign a new contract. Previously, it was rumoured that Letty had been in talks with sponsors outside of BWF Malaysia and could consider leaving the national team and becoming a free agent. Wu Zhiqiang confirmed that the Letty group has not signed a contract yet, saying: "Yes, Kang Le and Tina have not signed a new contract yet. They had just returned from Xiamen (Sudirman Cup). "We're not sure when they'll be signed, but we're not in a hurry."
However, the Letty duo may soon make a decision to stay with the team, as they face a tight month-long schedule. They have already registered for four consecutive tournaments – Thailand Open Badminton Championships (13-18 May), Malaysia Badminton Masters (20-25 May), Singapore Open Badminton (27-1 May) and Indonesia Open Badminton (3-8 June).
