The New York Yankees announced Thursday that they have claimed outfielder Bryan De La Cruz from the Warriors' transfer roster, devolved him to triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and transferred designated striker/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton to a 60-day injury list.
De La Cruz, 28, played in 16 games for the Warriors this season, batting 0.191 (9 hits out of 47), scoring one point, hitting one second-base hit, making three runs and completing one stolen base. He was sent to triple-A Gwinnett on April 17 and carded 0.200 batting average (8 hits for 40) in 11 games, scoring one point, hitting one second-run hit, contributing one RBIs and earning three free runs.
The right-hand hitter has batted out 0.251 (436 bats per 1,738 bats) in 491 games in five major league seasons (2021-24 with the Miami Marlins, 2024 Pittsburgh Buccaneers, and 2025 Atlanta Braves), scoring 177 points, hitting 85 second bases, two third bases, and 58 home runs, contributing 208 RBIs, earning 109 warranties and completing 15 steals. The defensive positions include left fielder (265 games/227 starts), right fieldfield (127 games/102 starts) and central fielder (73 games/61 starts). In 2024, he scored a career-high 21 hits and 61 points in a single season with the Marlins (105 games) and the Pirates (44 games).
The Dominican Santo Domingo-born player originally signed with the Houston Astros as a non-draft free agent on September 24, 2013. On July 28, 2021, he was traded to the Miami Marlins along with right pitcher Austin Pruitt in exchange for right pitcher Yimi García. On July 30, 2024, the Pittsburgh Buccaneers traded infielder Garret Forrester and right pitcher Jun-Seok Shim from the Marlins for DeLa Cruz. After the Buccaneers opted not to renew his contract on Nov. 22, 2024, he signed a major league contract with the Warriors on Jan. 3, 2025.
