The Associated Press reported that Russian figure skater Valieva did not file a new appeal

The Associated Press previously reported that the lawyer for Russian figure skater Valieva asked the Swiss Supreme Court to review the ruling upholding the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend the athlete for four years. In response, the press service of the Swiss Federal Supreme Court said at the end of March that it was the same appeal registered on December 17, 2024, and that Valieva's team did not make a new appeal.

The Swiss Federal Court of Cassation also stated that it could not provide further information on the case because it did not disclose the forthcoming proceedings. Recall that in January 2024, CAS disqualified Valieva, who won the gold medal as part of the Russian team in the figure skating team event at the Beijing Winter Olympics, but was banned for four years for violating anti-doping rules. Valieva's results from 25 December 2021 were cancelled and she will return to action in December 2025. Valieva's appeal remains the focus of attention in the sports world, with fans and the international figure skating community watching developments in the hope that the case will be resolved fairly.

During a test in December 2021, Valieva found traces of the banned drug "trimetazidine". She was stripped of the gold medal in the women's singles at the European Figure Skating Championships, the Russian Figure Skating Championships and the gold medal in the figure skating team event at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics (along with the Russian national team).
