As one of the executive committee members of the "Road to Gold" (RTG) programme, Malaysian badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei recently said that he would like to thank Youth Sports Minister Yeo Haw Shuang for his trust in him and will do everything he can to help improve the country's sports standards. Lee Chong Wei is on the list of executive committee members of the Road to Gold Medal Project along with 8-time World Squash Women's Singles Champion Datuk Ni Cole, hockey legend Datuk Minawan, and three Malaysian sports stars.

In 2026, the RTG Executive Committee will be chaired by Yang Qiaoshuang, the previous co-chairman Tan Sri Nosa will be the acting director, and Datuk Stuwer will continue to be the general coordinator. The new members of the Executive Committee are former CEO of the Malaysian National Sports Research Institute Datuk Nam Lan and former secretary of the Malaysian Swimming Association Tang Gui Mei. RTG is expected to announce a new batch of athletes selected to prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics after Eid al-Fitr.
