Jordan's 1984-85 jersey sold for a staggering $4.215 million at Sotheby's, making it the fifth-most expensive NBA jersey in history.

According to comprehensive foreign media reports, this unique jersey was confirmed by a professional appraisal company to be worn by Jordan in the preseason of his rookie season, and its special feature is that it seems to be transformed from an old jersey. The back of the jersey features the names and numbers of other players, while the front features Jordan's autograph and the words "My Very Best".

Multiple appraisal agencies, including MeiGray and Sports Investors Authenticated, have confirmed through photo comparison and technical analysis that the jersey is indeed a treasured memento of Jordan's early career. The jersey dates back to the Indiana Pacs preseason game in October 1984, when only 2,000 fans watched the game.

It is worth noting that this jersey, which was sold for $66,000 in 2009, has now increased nearly 64 times, fully demonstrating Jordan's irreplaceability in the sports collection market.

In the previous auction record, Jordan's other jerseys were also at the top. His jersey sold for $4.7 million in the 1996-97 season, and the 2022 "Last Dance" jersey set a staggering $10.091 million.

In addition to Jordan, the jerseys of basketball Hall of Fame stars Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant have also fetched high prices at auction. The auction once again confirms Jordan's status as one of the most influential players in basketball history and demonstrates the incredible potential of the sports memorabilia collecting market. A private collector eventually bid for the unique rookie jersey for $4.215 million.
