The family of former heavyweight boxing champion Foreman announced in a statement that he faced Ali in the iconic boxing match "Battle of the Jungle" in 1974 and lost, regained the title 2 years later, and died on the 21st local time at the age of 76. "It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mr. Foreman on March 21, 2025, in the company of his loved ones," Foreman's family said in a statement released on boxer Foreman's official IG.

"As a humanitarian, an Olympian and a two-time world heavyweight champion, he is highly respected – a force for good, a man of discipline and faith, and a man who defends his legacy, fighting tirelessly for his family to defend his reputation," the statement added. "We thank you all for your love and prayers, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we are honored to be with this gentleman in remembering his extraordinary life."

Foreman, who won heavyweight gold at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, won 76 of his 81 fights in his career, including 68 knockouts and five defeats.
