The players' union founded by Novak Djokovic sued the ATP and WTA, bombarding monopolies and colluding with each other to harm players

The Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), co-founded by Serbian star Novak Djokovic, has filed a lawsuit against tennis bodies such as the Men's Professional Tennis Association (ATP), the Women's Professional Tennis Association (WTA), the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), alleging that the four associations have engaged in anti-competitive business practices, monopolistic professional tennis and abusive practices that have caused harm to players and fans alike.

The PTPA filed a lawsuit and handed over a 162-page complaint, one of which alleges that the four major associations colluded with each other and, in some cases, linked to tournaments, reduced competition and manipulated prize money, and suppressed player earnings by forcing the use of name, image and likeness transactions, a lower revenue share ratio than other professional sports, and violating privacy, particularly in relation to drug testing.

PTPA met with more than 250 players to discuss the findings and follow-ups, and according to PTPA co-founder Vasek Pospisil, most were in favor of filing a lawsuit, "I talked to more than 100 players individually and tried to get players to join the lawsuit as plaintiffs, but it was much more difficult than simply getting support." ”

"The concern is, 'What's going to happen here?' Especially in the ATP and WTA, many people do not want to disclose their names and want to be cautious. ”

In response, the ATP only issued a statement emphasizing that the PTPA's accusations were unfounded, while the WTA said that the PTPA's actions were regrettable and misleading, and that it would firmly defend the organization's position when appropriate.
