Taking baseball as an example, the training schedule of the Chinese national baseball team athletes will be adjusted according to different stages and event plans:
Non-Event Training Mode: Athletes mainly train daily in their local teams or professional clubs (such as Beijing Tigers, Shanghai Golden Eagles, etc.). The Chinese Baseball Association (CBA) organizes short-term training camps on a regular basis, usually during league breaks.
Preparation period for important events: Before major international events such as the Asian Games, Asian Championships, and Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, closed training camps for 3-6 months are usually organized. For example, during the preparation for the Hangzhou Asian Games, the national team conducted a four-month intensive training in Zhongshan Baseball Town, Guangdong.
Composite Support Team: During the training camp of the national team, there will be a team of coaches, including foreign coaches from the United States and Japan, as well as a professional team of physical fitness, rehabilitation and data analysis. In 2023, the national team will introduce the training system of the MLB Development Center.
Overseas Training Mechanism: Some of the best players will be sent to Major League Baseball (such as MLB China Development Center students) or the Japanese Independent League for season training, such as Xu Guiyuan, Gong Haicheng and other players have overseas training experience.
Convergence of youth training system: U18, U23 and other youth echelons basically maintain a long-term training system, mainly stationed in Wuxi baseball training base, receiving systematic training.
At present, the Chinese Baseball Association is promoting the composite model of "professional league + long-term training of the national team", aiming to enhance international competitiveness. For example, the "Chinese Baseball Professional League", which will be established in 2023, will leave more windows for the national team's training camp by optimizing the schedule.
