Shohei Ohtani's knee injury recovery is progressing well; he will continue bullpen sessions but will not return to the starting rotation soon.

Shohei Ohtani, the two-way player who serves as both a right-handed pitcher and designated hitter, felt good after a 30-pitch bullpen session in Philadelphia on Thursday, and he informed the Dodgers today that he is planning to hold another bullpen session at Citi Field on Sunday. Nevertheless, this does not indicate that he will be able to take the mound in the upcoming home series against the Seattle Mariners next week when the team returns to Los Angeles.

In fact, manager Dave Roberts has almost entirely ruled out Ohtani's return to the mound during the home series against the Mariners. He emphasized that there is no rush to get Ohtani back on the mound, and the top priority is ensuring his arm is in optimal condition for October.

Roberts said: "To be honest, we have to stay flexible with Ohtani's situation. That bullpen session went well, and he feels good today. If he still feels good tomorrow, he'll do his next bullpen session, which would be great. If not, we'll push the schedule back. We're not going to force it. There's constant communication every day, and the key with Ohtani and pitching is staying agile."

As a pitcher, Ohtani has been dominant this season, posting an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA over 85.2 innings.
