Kiké Hernández and Díaz continue rehabbing in Triple-A and are about to return to the majors.

With a 65-38 record, the Los Angeles Dodgers sit atop the league standings. The team, striving for a third consecutive championship, will soon have two important players returning from the injured list.

Utility player Kiké Hernández and closer Edwin Díaz continued their rehab assignments today with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, and both could return to the majors as early as next week.

Hernández has been sidelined since late May when he was placed on the injured list with a left oblique strain. On Friday at Sutter Health Park against the Giants' Triple-A affiliate, he hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. In the game, he went 1-for-3 with a hit and played seven innings in left field. He could be activated as early as Wednesday when the Dodgers host the Seattle Mariners.

Before the left oblique injury, this was Hernández's 10th season with the Dodgers. He had only appeared in two games this season, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run. His season debut didn't happen until May 25 because he was recovering from left elbow surgery during the offseason.

Meanwhile, Díaz pitched 0.1 innings for Oklahoma City today, recording the final out of the fifth inning. The star closer, who signed a three-year, $69 million contract with the Dodgers in the offseason, has been on the 60-day injured list due to removal of a loose body in his right elbow.

Today's outing was Díaz's sixth rehab game. Previously, he pitched a scoreless inning for the Arizona Complex League team, three scoreless innings for Single-A Ontario, and 0.2 innings for Oklahoma City on Thursday, allowing one run. His return timeline is similar to Hernández's, also planning to rejoin the majors on Wednesday.

The Dodgers hope that this cleanup surgery on Díaz's pitching elbow will restore his velocity to normal. Early in the season, his fastball was slightly down, averaging 95.7 mph in seven appearances, compared to his 2025 average of 97.2 mph.
