"Is Shohei a man?" Mike Tyson presents award to Shohei Ohtani but doesn't recognize him.

The ESPY Awards, a highlight of the American sports calendar, were held on the 16th. While handing out the Best Single-Game Performance Award, an interesting incident unfolded. After announcing the winner, Shohei Ohtani, Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion, leaned over and whispered to a nearby person, "Is Shohei a man?" Though his question was barely audible, it quickly spread online and sparked widespread discussion.

Tyson took the stage alongside social media influencer Jake Paul to present the ESPY for Best Single-Game Performance. After Tyson opened the envelope and somewhat awkwardly pronounced "Shohei Ohtani," Paul explained, "Shohei can't be here tonight, but he sends his thanks to ESPN and everyone who voted for him."

Unfamiliar with Japanese names, Tyson, after confirming he hadn't mispronounced the name, suddenly whispered to Paul to verify Ohtani's gender: "Is Shohei a man?" This unexpected moment amused the entire internet, and the clip quickly went viral on social media platforms.

Although Shohei Ohtani's name had apparently never reached Tyson's ears, Ohtani still won the Best Single-Game Performance Award for his outstanding two-way performance in Game 4 of last season's National League Championship Series against the Brewers, where he pitched 6 innings with 10 strikeouts and no runs, while also hitting 3 home runs.
