Shohei Ohtani will travel with the team to New York for the series against the Yankees after having fluid drained from his left knee.

After pulling out of the All-Star Game because of left knee inflammation, Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani had fluid drained from the knee and will be in the lineup at least as the designated hitter for this weekend's road series against the New York Yankees, per the Associated Press.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated before the All-Star Game that Ohtani's treatment was aimed at relieving post-game knee inflammation, and that he would get a few days of rest before the second half of the season begins.

The two-time World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers will open the second half of the season with a three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Friday. Roberts made it clear: "He will definitely be in the starting lineup."

Ohtani is batting .293 with 22 home runs and 58 RBIs this season. On the mound, he holds an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA, having pitched 85.2 innings over 14 starts and recorded 95 strikeouts.

Ohtani last pitched on July 3. It remains unclear whether he will take the mound as a pitcher during the series against the Yankees.
