Since 2021, Shohei Ohtani has accumulated 40 triples, trailing only Corbin Carroll's 51.

Shohei Ohtani produced a double and a triple in his first two plate appearances during the June 3 contest, but he ended the game with just those two hits, missing out on a cycle. Since 2021, Ohtani has totaled 40 triples, with the only Major Leaguer to have more during that span being Corbin Carroll, who also had two hits in the same game, including his eighth home run of the season.

In the top of the first inning, Ohtani led off with a double and later scored on Freddie Freeman's ninth home run of the season, giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. In the top of the second, with one out and runners on first and second, Ohtani swung at the first pitch and drove it to the right-field corner for a triple, clearing the bases with a two-run hit that extended the lead to 4-0.

That triple was Ohtani's second of the season. Over the six seasons since 2021, he has compiled 40 triples, second only to Carroll's 51 in the majors during the same period. Carroll, who debuted in 2022, led the National League with 10 triples in 2023 and topped the majors with 14 and 17 triples in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Aside from triples, Ohtani has also hit 243 home runs since 2021, trailing only Aaron Judge's 266 in the majors over that span.

Led by Ohtani's two hits and two RBIs, along with Freeman's three hits and two RBIs, the Dodgers narrowly defeated the Diamondbacks 6-5 in this game.
