Houston Astros' Japanese starter Tatsuya Imai was sidelined in April with "arm fatigue" and came back in mid-May, steadily regaining his touch with two consecutive quality starts. Facing the Milwaukee Brewers, he threw 110 pitches over six innings, allowing just two runs, but still ended up with a loss because he ran into the Brewers' ace, "Miz" Jacob Misiorowski, who tossed seven scoreless innings to lead his team to a 2-0 shutout of the Astros.
Miz is an absolute freak, unleashing a never-ending barrage of heat. He started the game by firing 20 straight pitches over 100 mph, and the streak only ended when his catcher called for a curveball. In May, Miz posted a microscopic 0.23 ERA and racked up 57 strikeouts.

Throwing with such max effort often shortens a pitcher's outing, but Miz defies that norm. He has gone at least five innings in every start this season, and recently covered six frames in five straight outings, needing just 88 pitches in this one. Even more impressive, he might still miss out on Pitcher of the Month honors, because Phillies' ace lefty Cristopher Sánchez didn't allow a single run all May and pitched 0.2 more innings than Miz.
Miz's teammate Trevor Megill said, "It's absolutely insane. Sometimes, no matter how good you are, there's always someone just a little bit better."
Tatsuya Imai's ERA dropped to 5.52, still high, but finally into the fives. He now has a 2-3 record. The best performers in Houston's rotation so far are Spencer Arrighetti (1.34 ERA) and Kai-Wei Teng (2.57 ERA).
