Still growing taller at 31? MLB website updates Shohei Ohtani's height data.

The height information for Japanese star Shohei Ohtani on the MLB website has changed. The American baseball data account CodifyBaseball noticed that the latest updated official records show Ohtani's age increased by one year, his height grew by 1 inch (approximately 2.54 cm), while his weight remained unchanged.

The newly released preseason data for Ohtani indicates his age has been updated from 30 to 31 years old, his weight stays at 210 pounds (about 95.3 kg), and his height changed from last year's 6 feet 3 inches (approximately 190.5 cm) to 6 feet 4 inches (about 193 cm).

Professional athletes undergo physical examinations before each season, with height and weight being the most basic measurements. In the NBA, for example, players are typically measured wearing shoes to appear taller and secure better draft positions. However, as the league has increased emphasis on data accuracy in recent years, more players are now measured barefoot.

For MLB stars, since height advantage is not significant in games, there is no precedent for measuring with shoes. Shohei Ohtani's height increase of over 2.5 cm after turning 30 is indeed intriguing.
