Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow delivered an efficient performance in his first spring training outing, throwing over 2 innings on only 31 pitches against the Chicago White Sox. He retired the first six batters in order, topped out at 97 mph, and set a promising tone for the new season.
Glasnow struck out three batters in the first inning and added another strikeout in the second, retiring all six initial hitters. He left the game after giving up a hit in the third. Manager Dave Roberts commented, "He had a smooth rhythm and a complete mix of pitches. It's great to see him go into the third inning—a very encouraging start."
Now 32 and entering his third season with the Dodgers, Glasnow noted that the coaching staff has helped stabilize his pitching mechanics, allowing him to focus more on the game itself. "I don't have to constantly tweak my delivery; I can pitch more naturally."
Although hampered by injuries last season, he still posted a strong playoff performance: 21.1 innings with only 4 runs allowed and a 1.69 ERA, and he earned his first career save in Game 6 of the World Series. He described that experience as "unforgettable" and expressed his desire to help the team chase a third straight title.
Looking back at the 2025 season, Glasnow was placed on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. His career has also included Tommy John surgery in 2021, and he has never exceeded 135 innings in a single season. During the offseason, he got married and adjusted his training regimen in hopes of improving his durability.
Discussing his goals for the new season, Glasnow stated plainly, "Pitch well, stay healthy, make as many starts as possible, and remain healthy through the playoffs." For this talented pitcher who has been plagued by injuries, health will be the key factor determining his ceiling.
