The schedule for the Classic Series remains undecided, with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirming that Shohei Ohtani will not pitch during spring training for now.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared today at the Arizona spring training complex that Shohei Ohtani will refrain from pitching during spring training ahead of the World Baseball Classic in March.

Roberts explained that the team will conduct spring training in two groups to accommodate the players’ individual national team preparation rhythms. Regarding the two Japanese pitchers on the roster, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roberts clearly stated: “Ohtani will not pitch in any Cactus League spring training games before departing for Japan; Yamamoto is expected to start pitching soon, but I still need to confirm that with the pitching coach.”

Japan’s team will begin Classic Series warm-up games at the end of February, with their first official match scheduled for March 6 against Chinese Taipei. When asked about when Ohtani and Yamamoto would join the Japanese team, Roberts cautiously responded, “I don’t know when they will leave yet.”
